s a wondrous new project from free percussionist Pascal (Stuckometer) and multi-instrumentalist Kelly-Jayne (Cooper Jones) both also in Axis Mundi - two natives of the north of England, currently residing in rural France. Together they produce beautifully expansive compositions, nodding towards both free improv and traditional Chinese and Japanese music but Chirs Corsano / Paul Flaherty is also not far away. Various releases are available now and imminently from Rayon Records, Golden Lab and Psykik Dancehall.

Cones
Cones is a German duo of Datashock members Marcel Turkowsky and Ulf Schutte
(who records solo as Diamond Lemonade /Shivers and runs Tape Tektoniks ).
The drone persists, blanketing what seems to be, upon first listen, the ground of a simple monotonous crescendo,
fading from left to right channel and back again, but never elevating, never gaining altitude. A closer listen reveals something
different, something tonal and melodious, something where marginal sounds appear and disappear, like a photograph that somehow gains movement,
somehow manages to animate. It takes concentration on the part of the listener to get it, to understand that it separates itself from other knobtwisters
you could be playing on your stereo, should the moment demand new music, or at least experimental music re-imagined and recast using contact mics and tape loops.

Little review about last weekend with woods, tar feathers, guru gur..

the friday was much fun.. amazing but to short live set from woods family creeps..  was really good to drink and talk till 5 in the morning, waiting for the police etc.. hopefully we all come together soon
but now to saturday: guru guru… i woke up totally shitfaced… from the morning till the afternoon we (datashock ) was hanging out smoking cigarettes and talking stupid bullshit (really stupid stuff and we can’t stopped laughing the whole time)
the show outside was canceled because of the bad weather so everything would happen in the inside…
birth controll came and there where very old… all weared shirts with “birth control - the legend since 1968″ … also a sticker on the car…
the guys where so old and in bad health so there young roadie have to put out there big big big stuff and amps with the help of ronnie and ruth ( i can’t stopped laughing and was still smocking ciggarettes at the time)… guru guru came and there was much older… it was 17 a clock and the first people came because some idiot printed 17:00 instead of 19:00 on the tickets..
the booker said we have to do our soundcheck till 19:00… but birth controll needed 1 hour to put there stuff on the stage and soundcheckt also 1 hour…
i was downstairs to tell guru guru how much space we need and i saw it will not work.. but still without panic haha…
because guru guru and bc ate in a restaurant the organizer bought beefsteaks for us .. we told him we are vegan… he said yeah there is no cheese in it haha ..
so we made us french fries and cooked food for us from the rest of the show before…
the people downstairs were getting angrier and angrier because the show startet not at 17:00 and the want they money back…
at 18:00 the organizer came to us and said he would be happy if we don’t take more beer from the refrigator (till than we took 6 )
and he have one box of cheap beer for us.. in the same line he asked if it is ok for us if we are not supporting this show this evening…
i looked and ronnie and can’t stop laughing with my eyes haha..
ronnie said but we want the box of beer and i said we want the money… so we had no stress to find a place and time for the soundcheck.. it was strange…
we never got the box of beer so we still tooked the stuff from the refrigator…
guru guru started at 20:00.. shit … this was funky blues rock.. in a folksfest way…

the left guy had a open shirt on and was making crazy guitar solis and apposite faces and poses… the drummer in the middle had bicycle gloves and somehting like a maya chain arround his neck…
the baldy guy with the panzer glasses a muscle shirt and sweatpants… it was unbelievable the shittiest thing i heard and saw for ages!!!!!!
and the viewers.. oh my gosh… much worser.. can’t descripe it… from harlequins to 60 year old hippies to housewives…
all dancing in the unrhytmics way i ever saw…
we left after two songs and drove home after we got the money…
we got a mail from a friend that there still played at 0:00…. haha

i think if we really had played there the people the people had got outa controll for sure..
it..s a pain in the ass that we said ok to not playing there haha

This is the podcast adventure from the german post-Krautfolk collective Datashock. There is no constant line-up, as the group is joined by new members every now and then. Their music is defined almost entirely by psychedelic multidimensional live-improvisations stemming from 70ies Kraut-rock influenced by contemporary electronic music and psychotic dronescapes.

GURU GURU

Guru Guru is a German Krautrock band formed in 1968 as The Guru Guru Groove by Mani Neumeier and Uli Trepte (Neu!) later joining Jim Kennedy.
Guru Guru was both related to the free jazz music scene and both worked with Swiss female pianist Irène Schweizer. Neumeier already won several Jazz-prizes. The band was influenced by rock music, such as Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, The Who, Rolling Stones and early Pink Floyd.

Among the band’s friends were Amon Düül, Can and Xhol Caravan, with whom Guru Guru played jam sessions.

Frontman Mani Neumeier (drummer and singer) has an original style of playing drums, and is known in the European jazz rock-scene. He was also involved in numerous other projects, as Tiere der Nacht, The Psychedelic Monsterjam, Damo Suzuki’s Network, Globe Unity Orchestra, Harmonia, Acid Mothers Guru, Voodootrance & Lover 303.
